Bet Description

Betfair-Metaphysical.com lets you play the 2021 Census in England and Wales (E&W).  All bets relate to the ‘What is Your Religion?’ question on the census. A census happens every ten years and Census Day 2021 is Sunday March 21, 2021. The Census is run by the Office for National Statistics and is administered to 20 million households. More details can be found at https://census.gov.uk/.

In 2001, 72% proclaimed they were Christian. In 2011 this fell to 59% (a level similar to that revealed by other surveys) and regarded as more ‘accurate’. Will this decline continue? This bet is that despite the demographics, immigration and the general dissatisfaction with organised religion, Christianity will maintain its 2011 showing of at least 59%.

Decision Logic

59% or more of the population of England and Wales will ‘affiliate’ with Christianity in the ‘What is Your Religion?’ question. This will be based on the first statistical release by the Office for National Statistics that allows a comparison between the 2001, 2011 and 2021 figures on a comparable basis.
